Travel Diary - On the Spot - Baba Mandhir - Sikkim

"The Government of India is hiding a paradise beyond Hanuman Tok*. Blessed are the men in Army ,  for they can reach out to the remotest  ,prestine, untained  locations .. ...untouched and unvisited by any ; ......Not even a squarefeet of manmade, adds up this beauty .

Up above on the snow covered Himalayan Range at 14200 ft, around The Nathula pass***  are these Men protecting the Sino-Indian border.  This lonesome location have restriced access to the public , with   valid permissions.Beyond Hanuman Tok sentry point  , the access is closed by 2 Pm , and from then on, this remote area with pure air, , clear scene and variable beauty are left exclusively at the disposal of the Army men**".

- from my diary dt 19th of June 2011

at the Baba mandhir, dedicated to Baba Harbajan singh,- (an Indian soldier who was marytred in 1968),  ..this mandhir is maintaned by the Indian Army and they give Tea to the visitors  .............

* Hanuman Tok is a Hanuman temple located in the upper reaches of Gangtok , managed by the Defence personal  and they give raisin as prasad

** Saw the Army men travelling to some remote points at leisure ,where they get phone signals to talk to their kins.

*** Nathula pass : there is a parade everyday at this border point where the Chinese and the Indian flags are hoisted and lowered at respective posts.
-- there is a market there for 4 days a week and villagers exchange goods at will at this altitude.
--At the border, there were chinese and Indian soldiers, both  have no guns. It seems there is an agreement till 2012 that they are not supposed to use weapons at the border.
