In our office,  we advice our clients of creating destinations, creating destinations for shopping , IT clusters, community housing  ....etcs .  

We use various techniques, -timebound marketing  to make noice of  its existence ;  event managing - conducting musical evenings , functions, launches etc.  So that repeatedly people go and get used to the place and in the process sales may happen and a destination is  created , of cource it will take time, money and expertise  to convert a place into a destination . 

On the Chennai - Banglore Road via Chittoor ,  I  spotted a  man who has created a destination for himself  by simply standing in one place - a remote place on the highway - from morning to evening for 5 years and doing a small business of selling delicious Palkova(milk peda) to the  highway travellers . whoever travells in this road  would never miss him .

After  crossing vellor near the railway gate near 'Netham' closer to Katpadi Railway station - there stands this man in a Bike with a box tiedup in the back naming " Sarathy Palcova". This man comes in his bike at 9 in the morning and leaves this place after selling all his stocks, which is normally by 4 or 5 in the evening . There is nothing but a huge party umberla providing sun shade for him and he just stands behind his bike  and does drive-in service.  

Two or Three times , when I passed by this man , I didnt care , but the third time I paused to buy a small packet from him , it was so good .... from the next travel, it became a habit to buy from him, to eat on the drive and to carry home. In fact he has become a milestone, sometimes we casually ask while driving  , whether we have croassed him ? to check whether we have crossed Katpadi Railway crossing ! 

When I asked him why he selected this place, he said its the railway crossing  and people will slow down to cross the track and and this spot can very  well catch the attention of anyone who passby . 'Clever Move and YES HE IS BUSY '
